Classification of smashing localizations of Banach rings

Federico Bambozzi, University of Padova

Abstract

In this talk, I will survey some recent and new results on the classification of smashing localizations of Banach rings. The theory has many analogies with its algebraic counterpart, with the addition of substantial input from functional analysis. I will discuss several new classifications and computations, and, if time permits, I will sketch how to think of these results as some toy examples of spectra of noncommutative analytic spaces.
